CHILD CONTACT POLICY

United Association Football (UAF) prioritizes the safety and well-being of all players. To maintain a safe and transparent environment, UAF strictly prohibits one-on-one contact between employees or volunteers and players who are not family members, except under specific circumstances outlined below.

Policy Guidelines:

  • UAF employees, coaches, and volunteers should never be alone with a player in a private or enclosed space.
  • Whenever possible, interactions should take place in open, observable, and interruptible environments.
  • At least two adults (coaches, volunteers, or parents) should be present at all UAF activities when feasible.

Exception: When a Coach is the Last Adult Present

If a player is waiting for their ride after practice or a game and the coach is the only adult present:
✔ The coach should remain in a visible, public area (e.g., parking lot, open field, near other adults if possible).
✔ The coach should avoid being inside a vehicle alone with the player.
✔ If a delay occurs, the coach should attempt to contact the player’s parent/guardian and, if needed, notify another club official.
✔ The coach should document the incident if a player is left waiting for an extended period of time.

Reporting Procedure

Any violations or concerns regarding unauthorized one-on-one contact should be reported immediately to:

  • UAF Staff: Mary Matthews
  • UAF Volunteers or Other Authorized Representatives

Individuals who report in good faith are protected from retaliation.
Reports will be handled confidentially and investigated appropriately.

UAF takes child safety seriously and will take appropriate action to ensure compliance with this policy and protect our players.
